On our adventure home from the Dark Continent, we were separated from one of our travel mates in Amsterdam and reunited in Detroit. This is her story. This is also my first real attempt at video editing. Not too shabby, eh?

Notes from Uganda, Day 1, Pt. 2

The second half of our day was spent in Rakai District. Rakai District has been determined to be the epicenter of the AIDS/HIV epidemic. I’m not really sure what I expected to see and experience in this place, but tragedy and heartbreak were definitely at the top of the list. The views on our drive [...]

So, for the past 3 days, we were on safari at Murchison Falls National Park in Masindi District, Uganda. These two videos are a preview of just one of the many life-threatening encounters we had with the dangerous animals found on an African Savannah. Cheers!
The real reason.

So, recently I’ve been writing a little bit about my upcomming trip to Uganda. The preparation has been aggressive. Drinking high octane tea at night and then forcing myself to sleep, 4 out of 6 seasons of Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls, eating random bugs that Wifey’s cat catches, multiple shopping trips to get [...]

So my regular readers know I’ll be heading off to Uganda in just 4 VERY short days to eat bugs, drink the fluid squeezed from elephant poop (for hydration purposes, of course), and get chased by lions and tigers for two whole fun-filled weeks! I promise to take lots of awkwardly incriminating fotos. But this [...]

Thanks in part to National Geographic, I have this terrific visual of how things are in Uganda: parched land, desert heat, no real plant life, no chance of water for dozens of miles, lions lurking around every corner waiting to gobble unsuspecting Midwestern city-slickers (like me), and lots of aristocratic brits. But thanks to my [...]
10 Days to Uganda.

As many of you know, in just 10 short days, I’ll be jet-setting off to sunny Uganda to fulfill the most crucial of all my marital vows. Seriously. Wifey said she would agree to marry me on one condition: I had to swear, on everything that is holy, to go to Uganda with her at [...]

The first few years of my life were captured on film. I know this because my mother has pictures hanging all over her house. My hair was a #5 Cherry Red and coiffed in an Andy Gibb sort of way: well past my shoulders. I was freakin cute as all get-out. Then, much to my surprise, [...]
Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2009

You may or may not have heard about Uganda’s proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill. After reading this note, you will be aware. You may ask “Why am I concerned about proposed legislation in Uganda?” Simply, because it’s about people … people whose lives are quite literally at stake – and not just homosexuals. You see, if such [...]
